Cebu Pacific flight returns due to landing gear issue

A Cebu Pacific plane encountered landing gear issues and made an unscheduled return landing at Mactan-Cebu International Airport on Saturday morning.

Flight 5J 588, carrying 163 passengers including an infant, was bound for Manila when it returned to the airport of origin due to a mechanical issue announced by the pilot at 4:41 a.m.

Passengers were reassured and safely transferred to a replacement aircraft that departed Cebu at 7:09 a.m., arriving in Manila at 8:04 a.m.

MCIAA praised the swift response of all involved, emphasizing their commitment to safety and security throughout the incident.

Filmmaker Remton Zuasola commended the flight crew for handling the situation calmly and safely.
