Cebu City makes outdoor face mask use non-obligatory

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama introduced an executive order making face mask-wearing outdoors non-obligatory from September 1 to December 31.

The DOH, through its officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire, stated that they are unaware of this proposal and will discuss the matter with the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases later in the day.

Rama's spokesperson Karla Henry-Ammann clarified during a city flag ceremony that if there is a surge in COVID-19 cases, the order will be automatically lifted and face masks will become mandatory again.
