Castro remains Palace Press Officer after courtesy resignation

Acting Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Dave Gomez confirmed that Undersecretary Claire Castro will remain as Palace Press Officer despite submitting a courtesy resignation.

Gomez reaffirmed the decision during a briefing with Malacañang reporters on Wednesday morning, emphasizing it is part of the 'standard transition process'.

In a message to reporters on Wednesday, Gomez noted that Castro's re-appointment was issued on July 29 and she will continue her role in leading Palace media briefings.

Castro, originally appointed alongside then-acting PCO Secretary Jay Ruiz in February, is praised by Gomez for doing 'a fine job'.

Gomez underscored the ongoing realignment within the PCO under his administration, noting there are no new appointees at this time.
