PAGASA warns heavy rains in Luzon due to Carina

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that the southwest monsoon, enhanced by Severe Tropical Storm Carina, will cause heavy rains in parts of Luzon.

Moderate to intense rainfall is expected over various localities in the western portion of Luzon from Thursday to Saturday due to the southwest monsoon.

Carina, now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and having crossed Taiwan, has further weakened but a gale warning remains in effect over coastal waters of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and northwestern Cagayan.

Strong to gale-force gusts are forecast in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, eastern Isabela, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Negros Occidental, and Northern Samar from Thursday to Friday.

A gale warning is in effect over the coastal waters of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and northwestern Cagayan, with sea travel risky for small seacraft including all types of motorbancas.
