Calapan city gov't on alert as oil spill reaches shores

Calapan City's government is on alert after oil traces were reported near its shores.

City officials are prioritizing the installation of spill booms in affected areas, with assistance from the Philippine Coast Guard.

Residents are advised to avoid fishing, swimming, and eating fish from contaminated areas until further notice.

On Wednesday, Mayor Malou Flores-Morillo stated that Calapan's waters were still safe for fishing but requested water sampling by the Bureau of Fisheries Aquatic Resources for peace of mind.
