Calabarzon dengue cases surge 124%

The number of dengue cases in Calabarzon from January 1 to August 20, 2022, increased by 124% compared to the same period in 2021.

DOH reported 11,842 cases this year, up from 5,287 cases last year, with Laguna having the highest number of cases at 3,705 followed by Rizal and Cavite.

The DOH attributed the increase to the rainy season and increased public mobility due to economic activity; primary age group affected is between 1-10 years old with 19 deaths recorded.
