Tuguegarao placed under 10-day ECQ due to spike in COVID-19 cases

Tuguegarao City was placed under a 10-day enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) starting January 20 due to an increase in COVID-19 cases.

Mayor Jefferson Soriano noted the spike in infections and requested for the lockdown, which was approved by the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force after its meeting on Tuesday, January 19.

The ECQ may be extended until February 3 if the caseload continues to rise; Tuguegarao has recorded 246 cases as of Monday, January 18.

Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba endorsed calls for a 10-day ECQ in Tuguegarao and expressed hope that infections would decrease within this period.

Baggao town will be under modified ECQ from January 21 to 30.
