Cagayan de Oro collects 75,000 kg New Year waste; city, Tencil collaborate on cleanup

Waste management remains a priority in Cagayan de Oro City after New Year celebrations, with Tencil collecting over 75,000 kg of waste from five public markets on Thursday.

Jermie Danuco, operations manager at Tencil, attributed the lower volume compared to last year to early deployment of trucks starting December 24.

City departments including the Public Service Office and Engineering Office are collaborating with Tencil to expedite garbage collection and street cleaning.

Armen Cuenca, chief of the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office, suggested limiting sidewalk vendors during holidays to reduce waste accumulation.

Vendors have been reminded about proper waste segregation and tidiness but some still failed to comply despite earlier warnings.
