CAB raises fuel surcharge for flights starting Mar 1

Starting March 1, 2025, the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) will increase the fuel surcharge from Level 4 to Level 5 for both domestic and international flights.

Passengers can anticipate higher airfares as the new level raises the surcharge range for domestic flights to P151 to P542 and for international flights to P498.03 to P3,703.11.

This is the first fuel surcharge increase since October 2024, reflecting recent fluctuations in jet fuel prices.

Airlines must file their applications with the CAB by March 1 if they wish to impose or collect fuel surcharges within this range.

Cebu Pacific and AirAsia Philippines have both noted that while the change may minimally impact guests' travel plans, they remain committed to fulfilling their brand promises of making air travel safe, accessible, and hassle-free.
