CAB cuts airline fuel surcharge to Level 4

The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) announced a reduction in the fuel surcharge for commercial airline flights from Level 5 to Level 4 for October.

At Level 4, domestic flights will have a passenger fuel surcharge between P117 and P342, while international flights originating from the Philippines will range from P385.70 to P2,867.82.

This is the first time this year that the fuel surcharge has been lowered to Level 4, marking the lowest rate since August of last year.

AirAsia Philippines welcomed the reduced surcharge, expecting it to boost travel demand as the holiday season approaches.

Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer Xander Lao also expressed optimism about the move, anticipating increased passenger traffic with upcoming route launches.

All airlines must submit an application for collecting the October fuel surcharge before its effective period.
