CAAP invests PHP12.4B for airport upgrades in 2025

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced on Thursday that it will invest PHP12.4 billion in airport improvements and air system upgrades for 2025.

Of this amount, PHP10.6 billion is allocated for civil works while PHP1.8 billion will be used for equipment and systems upgrades.

Key priorities include night-rating upgrades at Cauayan, Dipolog, and Pagadian airports to accommodate increased air traffic demands, as well as preparing Bukidnon Airport for general aviation operations this year.

CAAP Director General Manuel Antonio Tamayo emphasized the agency's commitment to modernizing aviation infrastructure during a Department of Transportation radio program on Radyo Pilipinas on Wednesday, January 8.

The DOTr is also working on putting up airports in Masbate, Naga, Pangasinan, Siargao, Itbayat, Maasin and Hilongos, with plans to turn over Laguindingan International Airport and Bohol-Panglao International Airport to the Aboitiz Group this year.

These initiatives are expected to boost tourism and trade while enhancing airport operations and improving passenger experiences across the country.
