CA confirms Dizon as DOTr sec, approves 86 military appointments

The Commission on Appointments (CA) confirmed Vince Dizon's ad interim appointment as secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) during its plenary session on Wednesday.

Dizon reaffirmed his commitment to improving commuting safety and comfort and expediting public transport initiatives, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s orders, after a four-hour hearing on Tuesday.

The CA also approved the ad interim appointments of 86 generals, flag officers, and senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), as well as CSC commissioner Luis Meinrado Pañgulayan and COA commissioner Douglas Michael Mallillin.

However, the panel postponed the hearings for DICT Secretary Henry Aguda and PCO Secretary Jay Ruiz until further notice.

The CA also suspended the ad interim appointment hearing of Commission on Elections Commissioners Noli Piro and Maria Norina Tangaro-Casingal until June 10 to review opposition raised by Duterte Youth Party-list Chairperson Ronald Gian Carlo Cardema.
