Bureau of Treasury's FB page hacked; video and photos posted

On Saturday, March 8, 2025, the Bureau of the Treasury announced that its official Facebook page had been compromised.

The unauthorized access was limited to the social media account and did not affect the bureau's IT systems.

As of Tuesday morning, a suggestive video with a link to an unsafe website remained active on the page’s Story section, along with pictures of a random Asian woman which have raised concerns among netizens.

While other features of the page were unaffected, the Treasury advised the public to disregard any malicious content until further notice.

The bureau's official X/Twitter account and its website remain secure and have not been compromised.

The Bureau of the Treasury assists in policy formulation for borrowing, investment, and capital market development, as well as preparing annual revenue and expenditure targets for the government.
