300 PDLs transferred from NBP to decongest prison, support Iwahig's agriculture

On Friday, March 28, the Bureau of Corrections transferred 300 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City to Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Palawan.

This transfer increases the total number of PDLs moved from NBP to other facilities to 10,227.

BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. stated that the move aims to decongest New Bilibid Prison and support manpower needs at Iwahig for its agricultural projects.

The PDLs were transported in commercial buses from NBP to the Port of Manila before boarding a vessel bound for Puerto Princesa City, escorted by 100 correction officers with assistance from various law enforcement agencies including the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Coast Guard.
