BuCor orders halfway houses in all prisons

Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. ordered the establishment of halfway houses in all operating prisons and penal farms nationwide on Wednesday.

These facilities will serve as temporary residences for individuals awaiting release and secure holding areas for recently released PDLs whose resettlement is still pending.

Catapang instructed officials to submit detailed plans, designs, and budgetary requirements for each halfway house while identifying suitable temporary areas within their facilities.

The programs offered in these halfway houses include counseling sessions, orientation activities, interviews, and short courses designed to equip PDLs with necessary skills.

The goal is to prepare PDLs for reintegration into society by providing them with resources and support intended specifically for their needs.

Catapang emphasized the importance of a comprehensive approach that equips individuals with tools to effectively navigate societal challenges post-release.
