Brothers implicate ex-PNP CIDG chief in sabungero disappearances

Julie Patidongan and his brother Elakim have implicated former Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Police Brigadier General Romeo Macapaz in the disappearance of sabungeros.

According to Julie, Macapaz allegedly ordered police personnel to frame him as the mastermind behind the disappearances.

The brothers claim that Macapaz took their phones and deleted information during their arrest for a separate robbery case.

Elakim added that Macapaz played a significant role in their turnover and did not communicate with them properly.

Julie expressed his desire to see General Macapaz removed from service, while 18 other cops face administrative complaints related to the case.

Rappler has found a link between the drug war and the sabungeros case through two police personnel who were previously sanctioned for drug war deaths.

The National Police Commission will review the allegations against Macapaz before deciding whether to pursue an administrative case.
