Boulder falls on Kennon Road, damages house, car; dog killed

A boulder fell down Kennon Road in Benguet on Saturday afternoon, damaging a house and a car but causing no human casualties.

The incident occurred at 1:15 p.m. in Camp 7 of Kennon Road during Tropical Storm Crising, killing a dog while the family had been evacuated due to habagat conditions.

Response teams were deployed to investigate and provide assistance, with the city's social welfare office ready to support affected residents.

As of 4 p.m., Kennon Road remained closed due to continuous rockfall near the entrance of a rockshed, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways Cordillera.

The state weather bureau PAGASA forecasted that Benguet would continue experiencing occasional rains from the southwest monsoon, with possible floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall.
