BJMP holds graduation for 35 inmate students

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Bansud District Jail held its eighth 'Moving Up and Graduation' ceremony on July 9, celebrating inmates who completed elementary and junior high education in the 2024-2025 school year.

Acting District Jail Warden Senior Inspector Nelmar Malilmata commended the 35 graduates-six from elementary and 29 from junior high-for their perseverance and dedication, emphasizing education's role in rehabilitation and reintegration.

District ALS Focal Person Francisco Alinio and Public Schools District Supervisor Dr. Genalin Alinio formally recognized the graduates by awarding them certificates of completion.

Keynote speaker Donalyn de Guzman Jamilla encouraged the graduates to pursue lifelong learning, while EPSA I Odesca Salazar praised jail personnel for their efforts in helping PDLs rewrite their futures.

Proceeds from an October 2024 Color Fun Run funded a new classroom called Silid-Kulay ng Pag-asa, which by February had enrolled 52 learners—23 elementary and 29 junior high students.

BJMP Mimaropa Regional Information Officer Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo reaffirmed the bureau's commitment to empowering PDL-learners and helping them become productive members of society through initiatives like ALS.
