Binay accuses Campos of election law violation

Senator Nancy Binay accused rival Makati mayoral candidate Luis Campos of posting campaign materials inside Pinagkaisahan Barangay Hall on April 28, which she deemed an election violation.

Binay threatened legal action if necessary and warned barangay personnel that consequences could follow if election laws are violated, while Campos denied the allegations saying the materials were folded and neatly stacked on a table for residents to take home.

She alleged that the materials were supposed to be installed by personnel from the Makati Action Center (MAC), though later clarified that MAC staff did not actually put up the posters.

COMELEC Chairman George Erwin Garcia confirmed that the matter is now with the Committee on Kontra Bigay which is currently handling at least 213 cases involving possible election violations.

Campos cited Civil Service Commission rules allowing certain officials to engage in partisan activities, stating that barangay and SK officers have the freedom to choose their preferred candidates.
