Billboard, utility pole collapse on Katipunan due to Crising

A utility pole and a large billboard collapsed on Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City due to bad weather on Saturday morning.

The northbound lane near Ateneo de Manila University was closed after a concrete post fell onto one car at around 11:20 a.m., while a southbound lane was blocked by a fallen billboard that hit two vehicles and caused traffic congestion, leading to four lanes of C5 Katipunan Avenue remaining temporarily closed on Sunday morning.

Meralco personnel were working to restore power lines damaged in the incident, with workers dismantling large billboards from buildings.

Pagasa issued an orange rainfall warning for Metro Manila due to Severe Tropical Storm Crising and the southwest monsoon, while MMDA assured residents that they are actively addressing the impact of the weather on road conditions.

Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel Bonoan emphasized in a report by Carlo Mateo on Super Radyo dzBB that it is standard protocol to take down billboards during bad weather to prevent damage or collapse.
