Bikoy files COC for Senate, pushes for rehab-focused corrections

Peter Joemel Advincula, also known as 'Bikoy,' who gained prominence through viral videos linking members of the Duterte family to illegal drug trade in 2019 and later refused to testify in a Trillanes sedition conspiracy case, has filed his certificate of candidacy for the senatorial race in Eleksyon 2025.

Advincula, an independent candidate who previously faced perjury charges but claims it was part of a political conspiracy by the opposition, aims to lobby for a centralized correction system that ensures genuine reform and therapeutic programs for inmates.

He filed his candidacy with the Commission on Elections at the Manila Hotel Tent City on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, and said he would push for a corrections system geared towards rehabilitation instead of punishment.

Advincula's conviction for perjury in 2023 remains under appeal as he continues to advocate for reform within the Philippine correctional system.
