BI arrests German fraudster, Korean car thief

Two foreign fugitives, a German national named Kalus Dieter Boekhoff and a South Korean national named Ryu Hoijong, were arrested in Angeles City by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) on March 31.

Boekhoff, aged 60, is wanted for his involvement in internet fraud involving more than a hundred fake online stores that defrauded over 590 victims and caused losses exceeding 81,000 euros since 2023.

Ryu Hoijong, aged 48, is accused of larceny in South Korea for stealing a vehicle worth 40 million won and illegally selling it to a buyer in 2015.

Both fugitives were arrested based on Interpol notices seeking their arrest, and they will be deported from the Philippines and placed on an immigration blacklist.

Currently, Boekhoff and Ryu are being held at the BI's facility in Taguig City while awaiting deportation.
