BI arrests 7 Chinese nationals in online scam ops

The Bureau of Immigration reported on Wednesday the arrest of Chinese fugitives involved in online scams during separate operations in Pampanga.

Chinese national Zhao Jianfeng, 28, was apprehended on June 28 in Mabalacat City and is wanted by authorities in China for his role as a core member of a criminal syndicate that defrauded victims through telecommunication and online investment schemes.

Another high-ranking member of the syndicate, Lu Bingbing, was arrested at a casino in Angeles City for failing to provide valid immigration documents during a separate operation.

During the operations, five other Chinese nationals were also caught engaging in illegal activities related to telecommunications fraud from computer workstations.

The Bureau is coordinating with the Chinese government to ensure these suspects are returned to face justice and will be undergoing deportation proceedings.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado warned other foreign fugitives that they will be found and deported, emphasizing cooperation between Philippine and international authorities to protect public safety.
