BI intercepts 3 Chinese men suspected of theft at NAIA

On Wednesday, September 18, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported intercepting three Chinese men suspected of theft on a flight to Manila.

The suspects, identified as Lyu Shuiming, Xu Xianpu, and Xie Xiaoyong, were apprehended at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 after allegedly stealing a handbag and PHP63,000 in cash from a female judge's overhead bin on a Philippine Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur.

A flight attendant witnessed the suspects opening an overhead stowage bin to steal the bag, with Lyu later seen taking valuables and cash worth P63,000.

Lyu was arrested by the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group while Xu and Xie were allowed to leave the country on an outbound flight.

BI officer-in-charge Joel Anthony Viado thanked airline staff and security for their quick response and emphasized the bureau's commitment to protecting Filipinos.

All three suspects have been recommended for inclusion on the BI blacklist, with the bureau stating they will continue to monitor the case.
