BFAR: Masbate waters red tide-free, other areas still toxic

The coastal waters of Milagros town in Masbate province are now free from red tide toxin after five months of shellfish ban.

BFAR-5 regional director Ariel Pioquinto announced that all four monitoring areas in the Bicol Region are currently red tide-free.

In contrast, parts of Bohol, Zamboanga del Sur, and Surigao del Sur still have toxic red tide levels beyond regulatory limits, with shellfish from these areas not safe for consumption.
