Benilde beats EAC 86-85 in Filoil Preseason Cup

College of St. Benilde narrowly defeated Emilio Aguinaldo College with a score of 86-85 in the Playtime Cares Filoil EcoOil 18th Preseason Cup on Sunday.

Benilde led by as much as 17 points but nearly lost their advantage due to a late-game surge from EAC, which cut the lead to one point.

Tony Ynot's clutch performance with 17 points helped secure Benilde's victory despite Allen Liwag and Justine Sanchez being absent.

EAC's rookie sensation EJ Castillo scored crucial baskets in the fourth quarter to narrow the gap but missed a last-gasp three-pointer attempt.

Benilde improved their record to 7-1 and could clinch the top seed if they win over Lyceum of the Philippines University on Wednesday and Letran loses to San Beda University.
