Bayan Muna launches white ribbon campaign against EJKs, calls for Duterte's accountability

Bayan Muna party-list launched a white ribbon campaign on Sunday to support victims of extrajudicial killings (EJK), with ribbons tied around trees at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani.

Neri Colmenares, Bayan Muna's chairperson, urged the public to display white ribbons as a sign of solidarity with the families of EJK victims and called for justice and accountability.

Colmenares emphasized that while wearing a white ribbon is a small act for supporters, it can mean a lot to the families seeking justice and facing social media backlash.

The campaign also symbolizes opposition to former President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs, which Colmenares described as responsible for widespread human rights violations.

Former President Duterte is currently detained in The Hague after being arrested on March 11, 2025, facing charges of crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court (ICC) for EJKs during his administration.

Families of victims and human rights advocates joined the campaign to highlight their ongoing pursuit of accountability and justice.
