BARMM shortens work hours to 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM for Ramadan

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has adjusted work hours for officials and employees to accommodate the holy month of Ramadan.

Effective Sunday, March 2, regular working hours will be revised from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., as stated in a memorandum issued by Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim on Friday.

This change is in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 291 and relevant Civil Service Commission resolutions, ensuring that religious practices are respected while maintaining a 40-hour workweek.

The month-long observance of Ramadan will begin on March 2 as the crescent moon was not sighted on Friday night, Feb. 28.

Ramadan is observed annually by Muslims as a period dedicated to fasting from dawn until sunset, prayer, and spiritual reflection.
