Author Nicholas Kaufmann asks Filipinos to stop messaging

American author Nicholas Kaufmann has asked Filipinos to cease messaging him due to confusion over his identity as former President Rodrigo Duterte's ICC lawyer.

Kaufmann clarified on Facebook that his name contains two 'n's, distinguishing it from the single 'N' in British-Israeli lawyer Nicholas Kaufman's last name.

Messages initially came from Duterte supporters wishing him luck but later included apologies from critics who mistakenly contacted him.

In an interview with GMA Integrated News on Thursday, April 3, Kaufmann reiterated his frustration at being inundated with messages and comments, stating it had been nearly a month since the confusion began.

Despite previous clarifications, some continue to believe he is lying about his identity, leading Kaufmann to note that language barriers might have contributed to the mix-up.

The author emphasized that he has no knowledge of the Duterte situation and feels it's not his place to take sides, urging Filipinos to leave him out of online debates surrounding Duterte’s ICC case.
