Australian pair wins bronze in tight match at AVC Beach Tour

Elizabeth Alchin and Georgia Johnson of Australia secured the bronze medal in the Rebisco Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Beach Tour Nuvali Open on Saturday.

The Australian pair won a close match against Japan's Asami Shiba and Reika Murakami with scores of 21-17, 17-21, and 15-11.

Despite losing the second set, Johnson and Alchin demonstrated mental toughness in the final set and managed to secure their victory despite some contentious calls from the referee.

The match lasted for 47 minutes at the Nuvali Sand Courts in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

Alchin expressed satisfaction with the bronze medal win after a tough semifinal loss to New Zealand's Shaunna Polley and Olivia MacDonald earlier that morning.

In other matches, Stefanie Fejes and Jasmine Fleming advanced to the women's title match by defeating Shiba and Murakami, while Paul Burnett and Luke Ryan secured a spot in the men's final with an upset victory over Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Champions D'Artagnan Potts and Jack Pearse.
