Ateneo forward Kristian Porter leaves team for personal growth

Kristian Porter, the 19-year-old forward from Ateneo de Manila University, has officially left the university after completing his rookie year with the Blue Eagles.

Porter informed team manager Epok Quimpo of his decision on Monday and reiterated his commitment to personal growth despite not having concrete plans for the future.

During the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament, Porter averaged 6.57 points and 6.86 rebounds per game as the Blue Eagles finished with a league-worst record of 4-10.

Porter acknowledged that his transition to university life was challenging but he worked hard to improve during his second semester, prioritizing his studies over training for most of it.

He emphasized that stepping back from training allowed him to focus on his academics and catch up after a tough first semester, despite missing much of the second semester.

While Porter expressed no discontent with his role in the team, he is seeking personal growth and a change of scenery, having not yet committed to another school.
