Ateneo, UP tie for top spot in THE Asia University Rankings

Ateneo de Manila University and the University of the Philippines (UP) are now tied for the top position in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings.

Both institutions placed within the 501-600 bracket out of 853 universities from across Asia, though Ateneo's ranking dropped from the 401-500 bracket last year while UP maintained its position.

De La Salle University (DLSU) saw a decline in its ranking from the 501-600 bracket to the 601+ bracket this year, joining Mapúa University, Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology, and University of Santo Tomas in this category.

The THE Asia University Rankings use a recalibrated framework based on 18 performance indicators grouped into teaching, research environment and quality, international outlook, and industry engagement.

Ateneo was ranked higher than UP based on individual scores from five main performance indicators: Research Quality, Industry, International Outlook, Research Environment, and Teaching.
