DA to mass-produce ASF test kits for faster detection

Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William Dar announced on Tuesday that rapid test kits for African Swine Fever (ASF), developed by Central Luzon State University (CLSU), will be mass-produced starting February.

The DA has allocated P80 million for the development and mass production of these ASFV Nanogold Biosensor test kits, which promise rapid results.

These kits can detect the virus even in hogs without symptoms and will aid BAI personnel and veterinarians in biosecurity measures, farm profiling, and surveillance activities.
