Army seizes three combat weapons from terrorists in Maguindanao

Soldiers seized three combat weapons and explosives during an anti-terror operation in Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Maguindanao del Sur on Sunday, April 27.

A brief clash occurred between Army personnel from the 6th Infantry Battalion and a group of local terrorists who were collecting money and rice from farmers at gunpoint.

Major Gen Donald Gumiran confirmed that the encounter erupted when the terrorists opened fire during a routine patrol near Barangay Pagatin.

After running out of ammunition, the gunmen abandoned their weapons, including a long-range .30 caliber bolt-action sniper rifle, an M1 Garand rifle, and a B40-anti-tank rocket launcher with five rifle-propelled grenades.

Traditional Moro leaders stated that the seized weapons are now in the custody of the 6th Infantry Battalion following the operation.
