Legarda secures PHP125M for Antique Airport redevelopment

Senator Loren Legarda has secured PHP125 million from this year’s national budget to support the redevelopment and modernization of the Antique Airport in San Jose de Buenavista.

The funding marks a significant step toward strengthening the province's air connectivity and economic potential, with full operations expected within a decade.

Legarda announced that the new passenger terminal building is nearing completion and will soon be fully operational after conducting an inspection this week.

During her visit, Legarda urged the DOTr and DPWH to develop a master plan for the airport's drainage system to prevent flooding and ensure it can withstand potential hazards.

Since 2017, when she chaired the Senate Committee on Finance, Legarda has been instrumental in securing funds for constructing a new terminal and expanding the runway to 1,800 meters by 2025.
