Angeles City elects mayor from Lakas-CMD, vice mayor from PRP

Voters in Angeles City, Pampanga, elected candidates from opposing parties to the city’s top two local positions.

Carmelo 'Jon' Lazatin II of Lakas-CMD was proclaimed mayor with at least 98,164 votes, or 35.17% of registered voters, based on partial, unofficial results as of Tuesday, May 13.

Amos Rivera of PRP secured the vice mayor's seat with 79,866 votes, narrowly beating incumbent Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting of Lakas-CMD who garnered 72,315 votes.

Jon Lazatin expressed gratitude to his supporters and acknowledged the importance of unity for the city’s future in a Facebook post.

Lazatin's half-brother Carmelo 'Pogi' Lazatin Jr., the current mayor, will take office as a member of the House of Representatives after running unopposed in Monday's midterm elections.
