Amandayehan Port resumes full operations with upgrades

The Amandayehan Port in Basey, Samar has resumed full operations following upgrades aimed at alleviating transportation disruptions between Samar and Leyte due to weight restrictions on the San Juanico Bridge.

Six landing craft tank vessels now operate 24/7 between Tacloban Port and Amandayehan Port since June 21, addressing previous congestion issues and ensuring uninterrupted cargo and passenger movement.

Navigational aids have been installed by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) to enhance maritime traffic safety and efficiency, with full operations beginning on June 21.

The PPA, along with other government agencies, held a forum addressing patronage and illegal fees at ports in Eastern Visayas, emphasizing the importance of smoother maritime traffic and heightened safety protocols.

With a PHP410 million investment from the PPA's corporate budget, upgrades include port expansion for larger vessels, dredging works, and installation of navigational buoys to improve long-term connectivity and resilience in the region.
