PNP investigates, denies fake news on pesticide spraying for COVID-19

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is investigating and denying reports circulating on social media that special military helicopters will spray pesticides around the country to combat COVID-19.

Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson, stated these claims are fake news and have been denied by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

Banac emphasized that the Department of Health has clarified that pesticides are only effective against pests and not viruses.

The PNP-Anti Cybercrime Group is conducting a technical investigation to identify the authors of these false reports.
