PBA legend Cabagnot joins UE as assistant coach

PBA legend Alex Cabagnot is joining the UE Red Warriors as an assistant coach following his departure from Converge FiberXers.

Although Converge initially suggested that Cabagnot's departure marked a retirement from playing, he clarified on X (formerly Twitter) that he has not retired and intends to continue contributing to basketball.

Cabagnot, a nine-time PBA champion and former Finals MVP, will assist new head coach Chris Gavina in UE's quest for a Final Four berth after 15 years.

UE missed the semifinals by one win last season despite having an impressive record under Jack Santiago but struggled at the end of the season.

The Red Warriors are banking on players like Precious Momowei, Wello Lingolingo, Rainer Maga, and John Abate to help them regain relevance in collegiate basketball this year.
