AirAsia names Capt. Suresh Bangah as new president

AirAsia Philippines welcomed Capt. Suresh Bangah as its new president and general manager on Monday, with the airline's CEO Bo Lingam highlighting the significance of the Philippines in AirAsia's regional strategy.

Bangah, who has nearly 30 years of experience in aviation, previously served as group director of flight operations at AirAsia Aviation Group Limited and held key roles such as chief pilot and director of flight operations at AirAsia X Berhad.

He succeeds Ricky Isla, who is retiring after six years but will continue to serve as a chief advisor during the transition period.

Bangah emphasized his commitment to leading the talented team to elevate operations and enhance the guest experience while strengthening local aviation infrastructure and advancing ASEAN connectivity.

AirAsia Philippines aims to expand its fleet to 19 aircraft, boosting capacity to meet rising demand with a target of sustaining a 90% load factor in 2025.
