DA: Dante causes P63M agri damage in Visayas, Davao

Tropical Storm Dante caused over PHP63 million in agricultural damage across Western Visayas, Davao, Soccsksargen, and Caraga regions as of June 4.

Losses included PHP59.4 million for rice and P2.6 million for corn, affecting 1,780 farmers and 2,623 hectares of farmland.

In Negros Occidental alone, over PHP5 million in losses were reported by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist on June 5, impacting 143 rice farmers across 176.88 hectares.

The DA has utilized its quick response fund for rehabilitation and is distributing seeds, farm inputs, and feeds to affected areas.
