Philippine Navy warns Chinese ships near Scarborough Shoal

The Philippine Navy reported Monday it had issued warnings to three Chinese Navy ships spotted near Scarborough Shoal in the West Philippine Sea.

BRP Jose Rizal, conducting routine patrols approximately 57 nautical miles from Scarborough Shoal, observed a guided missile Jiangkai II Class Frigate named 'Dali' and two other PLA-N vessels.

Naval and air assets of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are closely monitoring these ships as they were detected leaving Philippine territory on Tuesday morning.

The PLAN vessels traveled through various parts of the country's exclusive economic zone, sometimes at high speeds up to 40 knots and slowing down to six or five knots without following standard communication procedures.

Despite challenges issued by Philippine naval forces, the Chinese Navy ships continued their journey southward from Bajo de Masinloc towards the Sulu Sea without responding according to international protocols.
