AFP lauds CHR reso on Absalons' rights violations

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) commended the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Region 5 for its resolution stating that FEU football player Keith Absalon and his cousin Nolven were victims of human rights violations when they were killed by suspected communist rebels in a roadside bombing last June.

The CHR's resolution, based on complaints filed by the victims' mothers, also called for compensation for the families.

AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Jose Faustino Jr. praised the CHR for protecting civilians and holding accountable those responsible for such attacks.
