AFP neutralizes Khadafi K. Mimbesa, Marawi bombing mastermind

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) confirmed on Monday that they have neutralized Khadafi K. Mimbesa, also known as 'Engineer', who was reportedly one of the masterminds behind a bombing at Mindanao State University in Marawi City last December.

Mimbesa, an alleged amir of the Dawlah Islamiyah-Maute Group, was killed during military operations in Lanao del Sur province from January 25 to 26 this year.

Arsani Membisa, a suspect linked to the bombing and known as 'Khatab', surrendered to authorities last Sunday, confirming Mimbesa's death through statements that corroborated with initial information provided by AFP.

The operation also resulted in the recovery of nine high-powered firearms, a bandolier, four two-way radios, and a smartphone used by the terrorists.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. personally awarded medals to four wounded soldiers and provided financial assistance to 12 others at the Army General Hospital in Taguig City, highlighting the government's commitment to support those affected by terrorist activities.

Recovered items included nine high-powered guns, a bandolier, four Baofeng radios, and a smartphone used by the terrorists.
