AFP completes routine resupply at BRP Sierra Madre, 7th consecutive success

On Wednesday, April 9, as the nation observed the 83rd anniversary of Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) successfully completed another routine troop rotation and resupply mission to BRP Sierra Madre in Ayungin Shoal.

The mission involved delivering essential supplies such as food and water for the marines and sailors stationed on the vessel, which is a World War II-era ship.

Col. Xerxes Trinidad, AFP's chief of public affairs office, emphasized that the troops continue to uphold sovereignty and national interest in the West Philippine Sea.

This latest mission marks seven consecutive resupply missions without any incidents since July 2024, demonstrating significant improvement from previous efforts where Chinese vessels would interfere.

AFP Chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. joined President Marcos Jr., DND Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., and other dignitaries to commemorate the Day of Valor at Mt. Samat National Shrine in Pilar, Bataan.

The ceremony honored Filipino heroes and called for collective action towards nation-building and unity.
