ADBI: Income gap widens amid pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has widened the income gap between rich and poor Filipinos, according to a survey conducted by the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) in Tokyo.

Poor Filipino households are more likely to face financial difficulties than their richer counterparts, with a difference of about 40 percentage points.

ADBI surveyed 1,000 household heads in the Philippines, including 520 from urban and 480 from rural areas, as part of its working paper titled 'Impact of COVID-19 on Households in ASEAN Countries.'.
