Adamson's Shaina Nitura called up to train with Alas Pilipinas

Shaina Nitura, a volleyball player from Adamson University who was named UAAP Season 87 Rookie of the Year, has been called up to train with Alas Pilipinas ahead of upcoming tournaments in Vietnam.

Nitura expressed her long-held dream of playing for the national team and vowed to work hard to qualify, emphasizing that she is learning a lot from her teammates despite not being named to the final lineup yet.

She acknowledged the learning opportunities provided by more experienced players like Kapitana Jia de Guzman, who also recently joined training, noting their vast international experience.

Despite being a young player, Nitura is prepared not to be the main focus in the team due to the presence of talented seniors and is working on building her connection with teammates during initial stages of training.

Nitura has broken several records in a historic Season 87 performance, including most points in a game (38), most points in a rookie debut (33), most 30-point games (6), and most points in a season for either division (371).

She is enjoying the ride as she seeks to gain experience and wisdom, but remains ready if she gets the call-up to join the national team.

Training with less pressure to lead, Nitura says she will work hard to be better and qualify for the team.
