ACEN seeks partners for offshore wind projects

ACEN Corp., led by Ayala, is seeking strategic and technical partners for its planned offshore wind projects.

Eric Francia, ACEN's president and CEO, stated that the company holds two to three service contracts dedicated to offshore wind development and lacks expertise in this area, necessitating a partner.

With funding decisions likely taking more than five years due to project scale and complexity, ACEN is exploring potential partnerships as its route to market for these projects.

The DOE's upcoming fifth green energy auction round (GEA-5) scheduled for the third quarter of 2025 aims to support offshore wind developers by securing long-term market access.

ACEN also plans floating solar projects in Laguna de Bay, facing challenges such as depth, waves, and wind speeds, requiring significant investment in technical aspects and grid connectivity.

Francia noted that uncertainties surrounding emerging technologies like floating solar present many challenges but expressed hope for adjustments in tariffs to justify investments.
