Aboitiz Power regains top power producer spot, 23.86% market share

Aboitiz Power Corp., part of Aboitiz Equity Ventures (AEV), has reclaimed its position as the country's leading power producer with a national market share of 23.86%, equivalent to about 6,774 megawatts (MW) in capacity.

According to the Energy Regulatory Commission’s data as of July 2025, AEV leads in Luzon with an installed capacity of 5,568 MW, followed by San Miguel Corp., which now holds second place with a national market share of 20.11% or about 5,710 MW.

First Gen Corp. and Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) occupy the third and fourth positions respectively, with shares of 12.41% and 8.06%, representing around 3,524 MW and 2,290 MW in capacity.

Under Republic Act No. 9136, or the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001, no company may own, operate, or control more than 30% of the installed generating capacity per grid and 25% nationwide, with AEV currently at the threshold for national capacity.
