Zeno Ronald Abenoja appointed as BSP deputy governor

Zeno Ronald Abenoja was appointed as the new deputy governor for the Monetary and Economics Sector at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) on Monday, May 19.

Abenoja was sworn in by BSP Governor Eli Remolona Jr. to lead the central bank's monetary policy, economic research, and statistical operations.

He replaces Francisco Dakila Jr., who recently retired from his position.

Governor Remolona praised Abenoja for his extensive experience in economic policy and deep understanding of monetary economics, noting that the BSP is fortunate to have him.

Abenoja has over two decades of experience in central banking and previously served as assistant governor of the Monetary Policy Sub-Sector at the BSP and chief economist at the Department of Finance under Benjamin Diokno.

Market observers welcomed Abenoja's appointment, highlighting his expertise and leadership capability in monetary policy formulation and implementation.

His prior roles suggest that he is well-equipped to handle the deputy governor role, promoting confidence in the central bank's strategic and monetary leadership.
